Julia’s Therapeutic

Expressive Arts

In expressive arts, the art is the therapy, and the healing power of the creative process can be experienced.  Spontaneous creative processes are curated and facilitated to guide the individual in the creative process.

While Expressive Arts is shown to have a positive impact on mental and emotional health, the strength based, hope inducing directives create an invitation to express honest emotions and thoughts, and is not clinical mental health treatment. Housed in an atmosphere of unconditional acceptance, space is held for individuals to experiment with spontaneous art, poetry, body movement, sculpture, music, and creative writing.

Expressive arts provides an outlet for the expression of emotions or ideas, provides a positive distraction or escape, empowers the individual to control themselves or the environment, and connects the person socially and personally with others.

PREVENTION.

EARLY INTERVENTION.

A passionate advocate of expressive arts and creative writing, dedicated to supporting individuals and groups on their journey of self-discovery and healing. With a background in social work since 2001, Julia has been exclusively engaged in Expressive Art Facilitation since 2011.

She holds degrees in both Social Work and Art from the University of Memphis in Tennessee and has acquired certifications in Trauma Informed Care and Expressive Arts Facilitation. Originally based in Nashville, Tennessee, Julia now calls Sarajevo, Bosnia, her home since 2012, and reaches out to clients globally, offering both in-person and virtual sessions. In addition to one on one sessions, Julia hosts a variety of workshops to engage in the Expressive Arts in a communal setting.

Trauma Informed Therapeutic Expressive Arts

Children's Therapeutic Expressive Arts

Times of transition and change can be a challenge for children and teens as they search for ways to express emotions and feelings.  Individualized sessions are offered for children from ages 3 and up.

In my curated process, the primary goal of the therapeutic expressive arts process will be to combine multiple researched-backed healing modalities into short, guided neuroplasticity therapies to help release trauma from the body.

Click below to see the specific modalities that will be incorporated.

The Artist’s Way

WORKSHOP

Twice a year, I offer a small group through The Artist’s Way because as the author herself says, ‘success occurs in clusters.’ The Artist’s Way, a book by Julia Cameron, is a course in discovering and recovering your creative self. The process dissolves blocks and transforms lives.
